AWARDS AND REWARDS

Wow what an amazing week I have had. I was very pleased to be invited to the Electrolux Suppliers Conference in Venice earlier in the week. We’re proud to be suppliers to Electrolux and even more happy to have signed a contract with them moving forward. It’s not just the wins in business that have made my week but I also attended two awards dinners. We were honoured at the Yorkshire business masters awards, which celebrated the success of companies and indivisibles in business. And also at the PwC Private Business Awards.

The awards weren’t just about making money but were also about celebrating the charitable work that companies are undertaking in these difficult times. What was really inspiring was to listen to the short stories regarding these fifteen finalists, which told us of their success. We left the Yorkshire business masters lunch feeling really quite good. Following on from this, later in the day I went on to a second awards ceremony at PwC; their Private Business Awards. We were finalists for two awards: CEO of the Year and Technology Innovation of the Year.

Whilst the dinner celebrated was an invitation to all the finalists, the results of the award won’t be disclosed until next week - so I will let you know if we’ve won! Again, I had the pleasure to sit around the table, listening to the success stories of another group of companies, covering many different industries, including production of mattress springs, oil and coal mining, recruitment -  just to name a few.

So, what is it that sets these companies apart from the competition? I would say three major things: their people, innovation and positivity. The companies around the table were the finalists but there was also a substantially long list of other entrants. Stories of success that were really inspirational.

There is no doubt that there are many different businesses that are having huge challenges and many people have suffered due to the economic climate. It would be unfair to ignore how hard it is for many people. That’s why I think it’s important that other companies like the ones I've met over the last few days, really do help contribute to their community. I must note however that the resounding message this week is that there are many people and many companies having great success.

Once again, I take the opportunity to thank our most valuable assets: our linguists and staff in our twelve offices around the world that are the reasons why we are able to grow - together with some great innovative Technology.

Hope you all have a great weekend! I look forward to catching up with you next week.

Larry
