OMG - WHAT AN AMAZING YEAR!
This past year has been absolutely
crazy; so many developments and changes. It’s probably been the most exciting
year in the last 33 years since the company started.
‘Why is
this?’ I hear you ask. Well, in the past we have talked about thebigword
revolution and I confirm that it has certainly started. The revolution is
powered by the enormous investment we have made in Technology. Many of our
people, especially in Operations, are beginning to feel this and in the next
year, we have a number of new projects that will enable us to significantly
beat our competition and grow exponentially.
With this growth will come so many more opportunities and challenges. We
need to increase our operational capacity in preparation for this.
It’s been amazing the amount of awards
we have won in the last year. See the list below for a few of them:
·
The US office won a Gold Stevie
award for the companies CSR/Sustainability Programme
·
Amy Thompson, our ScrumMaster
won the country’s top award for the work she is doing
·
We were named as one of the
UK’s top 100 companies for apprentice employers
·
thebigword was named as one of
the best performers during the recession by Deloitte for making ‘an outstanding
contribution to the prosperity of the UK’.
From January onwards there will be a
rapid increase as we roll out our Technology roadmap. In 2013, thebigword added
an additional 92 jobs to the company. In this next year, we anticipate adding
another 122 jobs throughout the business. I really believe that never before
has there been a better opportunity for career development at thebigword. We
also anticipate an additional 1,000 linguists will be required throughout our
global offices to help us cope with our growth. As always our most valuable asset
is of course our staff and the 8,000 linguists working from 73 countries around
the world.
I wish you all continued success in
the year ahead and thank you all for the phenomenally hard work and commitment
you have shown in the past year.
I had the pleasure this year of
attending the holiday celebrations with our team in New York and I thought it
would be fun to share with you the video that was created for this special
event….
I look forward to catching up with you
all in the New Year!
Best wishes,
Larry
