Should we still teach French in school?

Should we still teach French in school?

For many years the main foreign language taught in British schools was French, but is this the most useful language for our young people to learn?

Watch my vlog here:

The primary language taught in British schools is French. This was a reaction the Second World War when people didn't want to speak the languages of 'the enemy': German, Spanish, Italian. It's time we reassess this.

French is a very important language to have but it's not the most important. More people speak the Chinese languages as well as Spanish.

With the growth of the internet more products and services are being translated into the language of the consumer and so those more widely spoken languages are more useful to learn in schools.

Best wishes,

Larry
