THE ROYAL WEDDING AND OUR SHARED VALUES

I apologise for this delayed blog and, although I promised you some juicy contract-related news, I’m going to have to leave you in the lurch for a little bit longer – my lips are officially sealed.

An event that has grabbed all the headlines recently, aside from the adventures of Charlie Sheen, is, of course, the Royal wedding. Prince William will be tying the knot with bride-to-be Kate Middleton in front of a global TV audience of millions of people next Friday. As a result, the Royal family has magnanimously decided to bestow a national holiday upon us, proof that they can be useful after all.

So how will you celebrate the Royal nuptials? Although I would never advocate drinking to excess, a new internet viral doing the rounds might be right up your street: The Royal Wedding Drinking Game! A couple of the less offensive rules include:

- If the Queen is on the screen you must be drinking; and

- Every time Camilla gives the Queen a dirty look you must take a drink.

Whatever your opinion on the Royal family (and they can be quite a divisive bunch) I for one think it’s amazing that the union of two young people that none of us actually know is bringing communities together in celebration all over the world.

As a rapidly-growing global company, it is crucial that thebigword re-evaluates its own business philosophy to ensure that it is still aligned with our goals, and reflects the relationship between thebigword and its stakeholders.

With this in mind, I am delighted to announce that we will soon be launching a new Company Value that embodies our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The Value itself will be determined by an internal competition so that it is truly representative of our shared vision as a company.

thebigword has always focused on the bigger picture and considered its wider impact on local communities and the environment; encouraging our suppliers to embrace similar practice and aligning ourselves with clients’ expectations; but we also know that there is always room for improvement.

That is why the introduction of a Company Value for sustainable business heralds the beginning of a new and very exciting chapter in thebigword’s future as a forward-thinking and industry-leading language services company.

Stay tuned for more details on the campaign and other CSR news!

Have a great weekend,

Larry
