GOODBYE TO AN iGENIUS

I had planned on writing this week’s blog about my experience of nearly being run off the streets by herds of Wall Street protestors with scraggy beards, brandishing cardboard placards - (they must have mistaken me for a banker); that was until I read this morning’s news.

Like millions around the world I was deeply saddened to read about the CEO and founder of Apple, Steve Jobs finally losing his battle with cancer only weeks after stepping down. Words like ‘innovation’ and ‘creative’ are thrown around far too often these days (as I might have mentioned on occasion) but for once they are entirely apt. Jobs was a visionary, pre-empting the needs of a generation and creating products that people are genuinely passionate about.

I am proud to say that thebigword’s services have a positive impact on people’s lives on a daily basis: whether through face to face interpreting, where one of our interpreter acts as a conduit between doctor and patient in an emergency; alternative formats, where the hard of hearing or visually impaired are given a voice, defying geographical and cultural barriers.

Our commitment to communication is bound up with our emphasis on technology. thebigword isn’t afraid to buck the trend and remain responsive in order to bring our clients the most cost-effective solutions. We are constantly working to forge the future of the language services industry while our competitors play catch up – this ambition and the talent needed to back it up lies at the centre of our success, fuelling our growth.

With this in mind, I am delighted to announce a recent contract win – one of the largest we have ever secured. The at present top-secret win means that we will be looking for more interpreters across many language combinations, so visit our website for upcoming vacancies and details of how to apply - (and speaking of our website, drop by next week for some more exciting news...).

Have a great weekend,

Larry
