An exciting time for thebigword
The headquarters
of thebigword is in an extra frenzy of activity as we close the books on our
last financial year and prepare for guests to arrive from our offices around
the world for thebigword Annual Conference and Awards Ceremony.
At the
conference we will be sharing with our staff (some in person and others linked
by video across the globe) our plans for the next four years, when we aim to
take thebigword from the 12th place into the top five in the industry. This
will be no mean task but with the launch of our new technology and some
exciting strategic plans to support our organic growth we are set for probably
the most interesting period of our business.
This week sees
the launch of our new website which by the end of the month will be localised
into eight languages.
Localisation
has had a huge effect on our business as companies look to communicate with
customers in different regions. This is an area of huge growth and opportunity
for us.
We’ve
found that there is an explosion for the use of videos on websites all around
the world as organisations work hard to get their message across to customers
in their own language.
Our
website now features many videos, a really helpful feature when trying to
explain some of the complicated technology and the feedback from clients
testing the website has been more than excellent.
To add to
the excitement, this year we were awarded a £7million contract in South Africa
for one of the world’s largest hotel groups for which we’ll be providing online
training for its global workforce in 13 languages.
So we
start the New Year with much enthusiasm as we see how language and technology
is revolutionising the way companies, governments and organisations communicate
with each other.
I would
like to thank all our stakeholders including clients, our community of 8,000
linguists who work from 73 countries and of course all our staff for all their
wonderful support over the last financial year.
Have a
great week,
Larry
